When
JayG received the gift of a cunning hat I was overcome with the desire to knit one. I found a web site (that I can’t find now, but if you’re interested, let me know and I’ll check my notes) whose author had
Firefly on disc and a HD large screen TV. She counted stitches. She extrapolated data based on average head measurements. This was my kind of knitter! So I found a willing
victim recipient, bought the yarn and the needles and sat on it all for about 3 1/2 months. (Hey. I was busy.) I started knitting on the way to Pittsburgh and finished it on the way home and hated the way it looked.
It's supposed to look like this:
So I ripped it out and started over. And this is the final product.
You can tell Sweet Daughter's not afraid of anything, walking down the street in a hat like that.
I need a cunning hat to go with my duster...
ReplyDeleteNice job!
ReplyDeleteCute model!
What more could you want?
Shiny!
ReplyDeleteFor the one my mother knitted me, we found the "wispiest" fuzzy yarn we could find, which did a good job at making it seem, I don't know, cheaper, or homemade-y-er.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to post a photo, aren't I? SD looks a lot cuter in it than me, though, just warning you.
ReplyDeleteBreda: There is a reason I'm not modeling it. The colors are, um, less than flattering to skin tone. And that's just the start. I will not be offended in the least if you don't post pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt will keep you warm, though!
North: I'm willing to barter ...
ReplyDeleteNancy: Not sure what I have to trade that would be an even trade for such a fine hat. Perhaps a Lassiter from Earth-That-Was??
ReplyDeleteI like it! Good job.
ReplyDeleteLOL- Nice hat :-)
ReplyDeleteAgain, I'm impressed with your ability to make things. BTW, what ever happened to the awesome coat-thing you were making? Did you ever finish it? Did I just miss the post about it?
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Breda, cunning hat, Saiga shotgun (Vera)...
ReplyDeleteA Firefly hat will protect the wearer from anything short of reavers.
ReplyDeleteI hope I am not committing a blog faux pas by posting links to my daughters blog. Here are links to a couple "cunning" projects by my oldest.

Let's make a list of all the things Nancy Randall CAN'T do:
ReplyDelete1. Dribble a football.

I'm in awe of all your talents and love your blog!!!!

Dang! How that kid has grown!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me: Does yer kid read your blog? I think of the other case, where Lawdog, a Sheriff's Deppity can't use cuss words on his blog, because his Mom reads his blog. (I have seen her show up in comments and tell him to clean that up!)
ReplyDeleteIs that a photo of Jane Cobb with that hat?
