4,400 more

We're up to 6.270 stitches
Sweet Daughter came home from school early yesterday with a temperature of 103 and change. She slept all afternoon while I worked from home, and then work up promptly at 4:00 this morning. That meant I did, too. We kept her home and she was reasonably chipper, but started complaining of a sore throat around lunch time. Yay. That probably means a trip to the pediatrician tomorrow (just in case it's strep) which means she'll be exposed to even more germs.

And this is why I have so much leave on the books.

  1. I had strep 7 times in one year back in elementary school--I think 6 is the point where they say "those tonsils have got to go!" I begged and pleaded to get cut on, and I haven't get strep throat since. Which is good, cause that stuff stinks.

    How many times have you had to tear out your stitches and start over again?

  2. bluesun - ugh. I remember having one killer sore throat per year while in school, but have no idea as to whether or not it was strep. Other than shots, the only time I remember going to the doctor was when I broke my elbow.

    I only started this over once, when I changed yarn. There is one mistake that I see (I changed from the blue back to the white yarn three stitches too late at one point), but that wasn't worth tearing out stiches over.

    I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

  3. Unfortunately, the medical wisdom now is to not cut tonsils out unless they have visible necrosis, apparantly.

  4. There is some sinus nastiness going around that feels just like Strep. I got checked out for it a few weeks ago, and I know several people at work who are going through the same thing.

    I'm crossing my fingers for you that it's just snot, and not Strep!

  5. It's strep. Luckily I've never (yet) caught it from her, which can only be explained by divine intervention. Antibiotics are on board, and she can go back to school tomorrow afternoon. Not that I'm counting the hours, or anything.

  6. Rather she have strep, than another illness, at this point.

    Strep responds to antibiotics, but almost anything else she'd be sick this long with would be viral. Strep sucks, but its curable. {grin}
