So in the interest of finding something to blog about, push
my comfort level, and just generally get some exercise - even if it’s in
futility, I’ve managed to get myself talked into participating in a Firelock
Match as sponsored by one of my Rev War groups at the end of June.
I signed up for muskets at 25, 35 and 50 yards. They claim it’s not a competitive event, but
simply for the enjoyment of live fire. HOWEVER they will be keeping score for
those who wish to “compete”. Right. No competition. I don’t believe that for a
second.
Tonight I took inventory of my supplies, and decided it was
time to get my ducks in a row. Better late than never, I guess. This weekend, I’ll
be filing sprues off my musket balls. I sure wish Hornandy made them in Brown
Bess size.
Good luck and glad to see you here!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back.
ReplyDeleteI am getting a popup box when I go from my RSS feeder to your blog it has signup and a password boxes.
"To view this page, you must log in to this area on mjm.luckygunner.com:80:"
Any reason for this or are you going private?
I'm getting the same popup.
ReplyDeleteBut hey how are ya? Good to see you.
I have NO idea what's up with the pop-up box. I'll work on that in my copious free time.
ReplyDeleteI cracked wise on your FB entry on this, but there is a fix if your mould is of the typical square/rectangle shape. I had the same problem w/an old Lyman set in .440 for my PA squirrel flint rifle in .45.
ReplyDeleteFind someone with a surface grinder, remove the spruce cutter stop pin, & have them grind the top of the mould until the sprue cut is tangential to the ball.
You know handy folks- go!
I don't have anything to add to the black powder conversation, but I will say that I'm happy you're back at the keyboard.
ReplyDeleteMight your end-of-June shoot be up this way?
